The March installment of the 2026 workshop, teacher training (and community event series)!!!
Have you ever received a cue from your teacher that completely changed your experience in a posture for the better? Maybe that cue even altered how you are in your body from day to day? Such is the powerful possibility of cuing.
If you’ve ever tried to get someone into and out of a posture, you know that it’s not as easy as it seems! In this workshop, we’ll cover ways of getting your students into a posture with easy-to-understand language, how to help them refine their posture using words, gesture, and skillful touch, how to get them out and transition to a new posture with skill and ease (both for you and for them!). We’ll use the core sequence and each other as students to figure out the deceptively simple art of guiding yoga asana. This course is for teachers and teachers-to-be.
March 13 – 15
BREAK DOWN:
Friday 6-8pm FREE TALK (and Community Potluck!!!)
We’ll start with a body-scan meditation then brainstorm some favorite cues. Can you remember one or two that transformed a posture—or even your experience of being in your body?
How can we cue in alignment with the ethics of yoga—non-harming, honesty, and integrity? What else is being communicated through our tone, our posture, our touch, and the words we choose? What subconscious expectations or cultural values might we be expressing? In what ways might we be projecting our own assumptions onto other bodies?
Saturday 10-5pm
Welcome, intros, group asana practice with a focus on listening for transitional and Deepening Cues; Discussion on the Types of cues: transitional, refining, verbal, directional, and hands-on. Practice teaching, and reflections.
