Yoga, and physical movement in general, can be a powerful tool for addressing and preventing pain and disease. This module will focus on approaches to yoga that help minimize musculoskeletal pain, calm the nervous system, and allow for a deeper understanding of one’s body and the way it moves through the world.

This module will expand the yoga teaching toolbox to include techniques for myofascial release, strength work, and somatics exercises. Students will leave this module with an understanding of how to assess musculoskeletal imbalances, and how to create and teach sequences that will help rebalance the body in ways that reduce pain and stress

February 20 – 22

Friday Night 6-8 – (FREE PUBLIC TALK and Potluck)
Cross-Training for Life: Combining Yoga and Strength Training to Relieve Pain and Lower Stress  (2 hours humanities) 

Saturday 10-5
Welcome, intros (Erin background, students “why I’m here”,) pranayama, group asana practice: focus on feet, ankles and knees, assessments, anatomy/therapeutics feet, ankles and knees, anatomy, learn + teach therapeutic approaches to poses in series

Sunday 11-6
Welcome, pranayama, therapy ball work, group Asana practice: focus on hip, lower back, assessments, anatomy/therapeutics hips and lower back, remaining anatomy, learn + teach therapeutic approaches to poses in series
