Demystifying the Hatha Yoga Pradipika
September 11th – 13th
Trace the roots of modern yoga back to one of its true foundational texts.
Perhaps the root text on modern physical practice, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika (or “Light on the Yoga of the Sun and Moon”) is grossly under-appreciated today. Written around 1000 AD, this is one of the earliest texts to expand on physical yoga postures and breathing exercises—practices that are only vaguely suggested by the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
In this immersive weekend module, we will explore the overall structure of the text, demystify its core concepts and techniques, and expand on choice verses translated directly from the original Sanskrit source to understand how ancient practices shaped the way we move, breathe, and teach today.
